EQUAL PROTECTION OF LAW

The Constitution says that the government “shall not deny to any person equality before the law or equal protection of the law”.This means that the law apply in the same manner to all, regardless of a person’s income,status, background etc.This is called the rule of law.
The right to equality, guarantees that all citizens shall be equally protected by the laws of the country , whether she be an ordinary citizen,a minister, government official or a small farmer.

Everyone is under the same law.It means that the state cannot discriminate against and cannot mete out preferential treatment to any of the indian citizens on the basis of their caste,creed,colour,sex,gender, religion or place of birth.
